How this conversion works
UK sizes step in barleycorns (⅓ inch) while EU sizes step in Paris points (⅔ cm) and build in a last allowance — the two grids never line up perfectly, so some UK sizes straddle two EU sizes.
When your UK size sits on one of those boundaries we show both EU candidates. Sizing up is the comfortable default; sizing down only makes sense for narrow feet or shoes known to run large.

UK 7 corresponds to EU 40 (sometimes 40.5). It equals a US men's 8 and a foot length of about 25.4 cm.
Why does my UK to EU conversion differ between shops?
Shops round boundary sizes differently and some bake brand-specific offsets into their tables. We show the standard-scale conversion and flag both candidates on boundaries instead of hiding the ambiguity.
Is EU sizing unisex?
