How this conversion works
This is the detail most conversion sites get wrong: there is no single 'Australian size'. Men's and children's footwear in Australia is marked on the UK scale, while women's footwear is marked on the US women's scale.
So an AU men's 9 is a UK 9 (US men's 10), but an AU women's 9 is a US women's 9 (UK 7). The converter applies the right mapping per category automatically.

Are Australian and UK shoe sizes the same?
For men's and kids' shoes, yes — the numbering is identical. For women's shoes, Australia uses US women's numbering instead.
What is an AU women's 8 in US sizes?
AU women's 8 is US women's 8 — the scales match. In UK sizing that is a 6, and roughly EU 38.5–39.
What about AU men's to US men's?
AU men's = UK numbering, so subtract one size for US men's: AU men's 10 → US men's 11.
